COOL THINGS HAPPEN. AND I WON A FROG.

So this past weekend, the Bug and I went on our own little vacation to Busch Gardens! YAY! I've never been there, and we found a Groupon (best thing ever if you haven't tried it) for a resort + tickets a few months ago. We had a free weekend, so we made reservations and took a little trip! =D

That is the Lochness Monster grrrrrrrr. We both went on that one. He's not the biggest fan of rolley toasters, which are my FAVORITE, so I was happy he went on one with me =] Also, it was about a million degrees outside, so it probably wasn't the best weekend to be running around outside. But we still had a TON of fun.

I think his favorite part of amusement parks are the carnival games. He plays them over and over until he gets bored or wins. We found a game where you had to kick two out of three soccer balls into a net with a moving fake goalie. We've both played soccer basically our whole lives, sooo of course, we both won. And I got a big stuffed frog! He's fantastic. But I cannot think of a name =[ Suggestions?

Mehhhh that's pretty much all that's exciting.

P.S. Just clarifying, basically all of the pictures that will appear on here are taken by me. If they're not, I'll give them a source so the person who takes pretty pictures gets aaalll the credit!

Painting!

So this weekend was filled with painting. Not fun canvas painting either. Painting walls. My mom and I are moving in a few weeks (YAY), and we wanted to paint the new house prettier colors :) It's work, but sooo worth it. I'll post before and after pictures when we're all done!

Also, HARRY POTTER!! (again). Who else saw it?! I'm glad I saw the final movie at midnight. Everyone there was so excited, and we sat next to some great people, and it was just a nice way to end the series. Some people were bawling loudly, which I thought was excessive, but my friend and I got a little teary at some parts. And then I was just sad it was ending. I thought it was good overall, but there were some things that just could've been better. I think I'd have to watch Part 1 and then see Part 2 to really get the whole effect.

Back to work (not painting) tomorrow...blahh Mondays...

Making things!

I usually only buy the basics when it comes to hair accessories - bobby pins (tons of those), ponytails, and the clips with teeth. I don't like buying hair flowers, headbands, etc. because I'm always like, oh, I can make that! But, of course, I never do. Until today!

I found the DIY here! at one of my new favorite places to stalk! ;) I adapted it a little, though, to fit my materials. I only used 12 inches of fabric, and I realized 24 would be overwhelming on my head anyway. I also used craft foam on the back instead of felt (couldn't find any...oops), which worked fine, but I put a little glue just in case. And I added a button to the middle! ...can you guess where that came from? :P It inspired me to make a few other ones using more different materials, so I guess we'll see how those come out!

Also, HARRY POTTER TOMORROW!! SO. EXCITED. My friend from school, Buggy, and I are going at midnight :D I've gone to the midnight showings and midnight book releases since the fifth book came out. Even before then, my best friend and I would go on the first day to see the movies. I've been reading Harry since I was about seven, and I've loved him ever since. I can't imagine life without him. No more books, and soon, no more movies :( I don't even have the words. It's bittersweet, really.
Does anyone else feel the same way?

I'm the worst sleeper...

I love to sleep. But for some reason, I've been having the worst time falling asleep lately. And then I sit on the computer and look at everything. And then I really never sleep. Melatonin, perhaps...?

I have an exciting thing, though! YAY! My boyfriend (henceforth called Bug or Buggy*) and I went to an outdoor antique show in beautiful Lancaster County (think Amish and lots of antiques)

and I bought a jar of 800 million buttons! Or like 890. Either way, it's a lot of buttons.

That was my organizing by color and counting. I was really excited. Excited enough to organize them by color and then count them back into the jar. Not weird or anything. And I have so many cool ideas to use them! Besides being and art student and therefore having the urge to collect every little knickknacky random object in case one day it might possibly be useful for a project, I'd been wanting to use buttons to make some cute things for a while. I found a bunch of other awesome things that I also plan on incorporating into some cute stuff. Excitinggg :)

*I had never heard this before, but according to him, when you're talking about someone and call them a bug, it means they're kind of annoying. Clearly, that meant I had to call him a bug from then until eternity. When I'm feeling cute, I'll call him Buggy, which also works because he's my snuggle buggy ;)

I greatly dislike when objects or people put the * after something as if there's an explanation to the *ed thing, and then you can never find the explanation and are left to infinitely wonder what extra clarification about that object was so special it needed a *. If you're me, this means thinking that the object is going to explode in your hands because you didn't know that special clarification and did something to upset the object.

Sometimes I rant about random things. Usually when I'm tired. I'm going to attempt to sleep again.

Nighty night! :)

Intro Game!

Hiii!!

I'm bad at intros. I especially hate those intro games where you have to say you name with a food that shares your first initial or something you like that begins with that letter or something unique about yourself or the most random thing that pops into your head. If this were one of those games, my intro would go something like this:

I'm Maria Muffin. I like movies and mac and cheese. Something unique about me is that I can lick my elbow (legit). ELEPHANTS.

While my friends probably wouldn't be surprised if I randomly yelled out elephants, here's a more accurate description of me:

I'm Maria! I'm a junior at Arcadia University, studying Photography and Art Therapy. I like taking photos, reading, knitting and other artsy things. I've recently discovered how amazing DIYs are. I will probably end up posting random photos I've taken (see background), not because I want you to be all like, YOU'RE SO GREAT AHHH, but because the photo makes me happy, and I hope it will make you happy too!

I think the point of this will be to document how I'm growing as an artist, and hopefully you will discover with me :)
